Biomimicry Architecture

We take “Beaver” as our biomimicry animal. Beaver is a small animal but it makes the world wonder about how it could built its habitat from nature but as strong as manmade structure while not harming any environment. So we started research about the benefits of the beavers’ lodge such as shape, form and the structure that could create such strong structure for the school and receive the natural environment also.

Beaver’s lodge

Beavers build and maintain houses called lodges. There are two main types, the conical lodge and the bank lodge. It is made from sticks, mud and rocks. One of the primary reasons beavers build dams is to surround their lodge with water for protection from predators. They provide numerous air holes on the sides of the lodge that allow for the exchange of gases providing proper ventilation to the interior living chamber. An active beaver lodge can be five to six feet high and over twelve feet in diameter. And the structure that formed up with mud and stick is stronger than you think even the bear can’t destroy it. This lodge also provide at least 2 entrance as main entrance and emergency exit.
